The bands I've been in are The Crop, Sangfroid, Passenger Pigeon, (our album is out on Itunes and Spotify pls check it out pls) and Beat juice. one thing they all have in common is the inclusion of a drum set. I have grown accustomed to their presence but now don't have access to one. my solo career has even had one (and or a cajon), but now i'm drumless. I am having to compensate for its absence through slightly unconventional methods.
The last several songs I have recorded have implemented clap tracks, shakers, and a lot of layers to fill the empty space. it has been a hard transition but a quote from Bird By Bird is inpirational in these rocky times "We're taught to improve uncomfortable situations, to change things, alleviate unpleasant feelings." doing this would mean me finding a way to get access to drums when I should just accept my situation and learn to grow without one, to live with the unpleasant feeling of no hi-hat and no snare. I will adapt and evolve in a way that I couldn't with a Drum set. I find that limitation bring about immense growth if you accept them.
